Elena Tonkovski is Vice President and Senior Actuary, Insurance Risk, for 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s Global Risk Services Team. Elena leads 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s Insurance Risk Committee, which is responsible for monitoring insurance risks, mitigating tail events, and managing risk exposures. She also serves as 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s Global Mortality Lead Risk Owner and is involved in key initiatives to understand and respond to biometric risk trends by collaborating with cross-functional teams at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ.
Prior to her current role, Elena produced analytics on individual life and longevity products to guide 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s global product strategy, and provided pricing best practices and advice to validate and complement the work of 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s regional and local offices. She led the Mortality Improvement Working Group at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and was previously responsible for 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s external retrocession program.
Prior to that, Elena held several pricing roles at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, including associate actuary for 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s Global Financial Solutions division and pricing actuary for Continental Europe and the Middle East. She also led 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s Global Actuarial Development program for several years.
Before joining 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ in 2008, Elena was an actuarial associate in the individual life area for a major life reinsurer in the Canadian market. Elena received her Bachelor of Arts (with honors) degree in mathematics for commerce from York University in Toronto, Canada. She has been a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) since 2020 and Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) since 2008.
